Our vision for our Special Needs/Buddies program at Whitesburg is for our families to be able to fully worship and fellowship with one another, while feeling confident that their child is in good hands.  Whitesburg Buddies will take place during the 9:30 am Worship/Life Group hour.  Our goal is to pair each child with special needs one-on-one with a Buddy.  After meeting with our Buddies Coordinator, a unique plan will be established for each child.  A Buddy will be trained to understand the needs of each child, and following training, a Buddy will sit in class with a child, walk with the child or even sit with parents to help with their child. Our desire is to come alongside families as we help them encounter Jesus and experience life change. 

Meet Our Special Needs Coordinator

Hello! My name is Alicia Wilkerson, and I serve as Special Needs Coordinator for the Buddies Program at Whitesburg. I was born and raised right here in Huntsville and married to the love of my life, Dan, for 11 years.  We have two adorable daughters, Haley (6) and Abigail (4). We love taking adventures together as a family.  I work for my alma mater, UAH, as a Resource Manager for the College of Business.  Before my move to the College of Business, I worked at the Early Learning Center at UAH.  This is where my love for children with special needs grew.

I love what I get to do in coordinating this program, but I know it cannot reach its full potential without a team in place!  We have several different types of opportunities to serve and I would love to share more with you! I want to invite you to join me in this exciting ministry at WBC!
